Overview
Creative visual trailers for each of the biggest quarterly update promotions about virtual space in 2022. Spatial had some pretty big quarterly updates in 2022, including a new release of the avatar system on the platform and an overhaul of the homepage to give users more freedom to explore virtual spaces. These trailers used as 3D promotion video that I was responsible for end-to-end directing and designing for the updates.

The Future of
Spatial
Jan 2022
This experimental video envisions a scene from the future of virtual experiences. Virtual spaces will basically lower the constraints of everything that currently happens offline, making it much more accessible.
For example, there could be artist's exhibitions, NFT galleries, and tons of socializing like meetings, commerces, and social events. We will also be able to immerse ourselves in and interact with different forms of avatars that express our own personalities, creating countless subsequent experiences.
At spatial, I have been presenting the future experiences on our platform in the form of demos.
I considered the value of diversity and interoperability of avatars based on people's personalities in the future virtual space important, and chose NFT gallery, which was highly recognized in relation to virtual space at the time, to increase accessibility for the average people.

New Avatar
Launch Trailer
May 2022
As we move from AR collaboration to VR social platforms, Spatial released a new full-body avatar system, replacing the existing half-body torso avatar. I wanted to represent the moment when an existing avatar is transformed into a new avatar system in the virtual space of Spatial.
Until 2020, Spatial was an AR collaboration platform, so realistic facial scans were important, and avatars only needed to show facial expressions and hand movements.
However, in 2021, Spatial became a VR social platform including collaboration, and the existing avatars did not fit the new direction. Therefore, Spatial launched a new full-body avatar which allows for greater personal customization and freedom of expression, replacing the existing torso avatar.

Live Explore:
Discover More
May 2022
Spatial redesigned its homepage to simplify the experiential journey of discovering and exploring virtual spaces and creators.
To visualize this redesign as a 3D promo, I directed a film that depicts the organic connection between space and space, experience and experience, and human-to-human transitions.
The old spatial homepage only showed a few key spaces, giving users less freedom to explore the space and less accessibility to discover new spaces.
To improve this, we redesigned the experience of the platform. We put a carousel at the top, designed a tab that recommends spaces by each categories, and allowed users to transit to curated similar spaces through the explore button within a space to maintain the in-space experience.
